Our North American distribution business – MISUMI USA – is seeking a Product Engineer for our Schaumburg, Illinois headquarters.

ABOUT THE POSITION:


The Product Engineer will work closely with customers in a consultive selling role and will support sales and internal departments with professional technical support. to customers using industry and technical expertise.  The role is also responsible for identifying products to add to MISUMI's portfolio of wiring and electrical control products, and for developing content for our website. Specific responsibilities include:
Business Development
 
  • Call customers to close sales, follow up on quote requests, and provide technical assistance.
  • Collect product information and quotes from suppliers.
  • Participate in tradeshows and exhibitions as a staff member to support sales and marketing departments.
  • Accompany sales representatives on customer site visits for on-site training, technical support, or lunch and learn sessions.
  • Assist product managers in conceiving and executing brand-new services to expand the competitiveness of business.
  • Lead/support the development of marketing collaterals, including blogs, brochures, and Google search keyword terms.

Technical Support
  • Provide fast and efficient support for all technical inquiries such as application recommendations, controls programming support, materials, tolerances, engineering calculations, CAD models, etc. to customers, sales and other internal team members
  • Find and suggest appropriate alternative/replacement products utilizing the existing product lines or partner suppliers and propose them to customers.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers to support product inspection and investigation to ensure the root cause of product defects, malfunctions or any technical errors.
  • Consult, educate, and support Misumi’s internal employees with technical expertise for creating new product pages on E-commerce platform, product training for customers and new and existing staff, etc.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Engineering or Technical Sales with expertise in industrial automation controls such as PLC and VFDs, especially Japanese brands
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • General computer skills such as webpage development using internally developed software, web-based research, and the ability to be innovative when solving problems.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD, Microsoft Office, CRM Software
  • Motivated, driven, responsible, possess leadership, and results oriented.
  • Experience working in an international environment preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Proficiency in Spanish a plus
